Trip Overview:

This moderate trek and kayaking adventure takes you through ancient primary rainforest in Nam Ha NPA. You’ll stay overnight at the River Jungle Camp, experience the remote Khmu village (awarded ASEAN Standard of Community Based Tourism), and enjoy the dramatic scenery while paddling downriver and tackling exciting rapids.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Ban Nam Ha to River Jungle Camp (Approx. 4-5 hours)
09:00 AM: Meet at the office or your hotel, then head to the morning market for fresh supplies. 10:00 AM: Start the trek in Nam Ha NPA. Hike through dense primary rainforest, learn about local plants and trees from your guide, and enjoy a jungle meal cooked in bamboo. Afternoon: Continue trekking through lush rainforest, crossing streams and passing through cultivated lands. Arrive at the River Jungle Camp before sunset. You can fish, stroll around the camp, or swim in the Nam Ha River.

Day 2: River Jungle Camp to Ban Houy Leuat
Morning: Enjoy breakfast and coffee or tea prepared by your guides. Receive kayaking instructions and begin paddling downriver, navigating the first rapids. Midday: Visit Nalan village and have a Lao picnic lunch. Afternoon: Continue kayaking, passing through scenic rapids and visiting Nam Koy village to learn about natural dyeing and bamboo paper making. Join the Namtha River and tackle more rapids until reaching Houy Leuat village. Return to the office by tuk-tuk.

Note: The Nam Ha River is best for kayaking from July to November. Low water levels from December to June may make kayaking more challenging.
