Trip Overview:

This 3-day trek takes you deep into the untouched jungle of the Nam Ha Protected Area with an expert local guide. Learn survival skills such as setting up camp, building shelters from banana leaves and bamboo, identifying medicinal plants, and cooking with local ingredients. Experience fishing, frog hunting, and a traditional Khmu-style jungle picnic.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Nam Ha to Jungle Camp
9:00 AM: Meet at the office, then travel by Tuk Tuk to the morning market for supplies. Start Trek: Begin from Ban Nam Ha with a local guide. Trek through cultivated land into the jungle, learning about wildlife and medicinal plants. Enjoy a picnic lunch. Evening: Set up camp, prepare a jungle dinner, and enjoy the stars by a campfire.

Day 2: Jungle Camp to Riverside Camp
Morning: Wake up to the sounds of the jungle. After breakfast, trek along a ridge with cool, shady forest. Afternoon: Hike downhill to a stream, arriving at the camp before sunset. Learn about jungle plants and prepare a traditional Khmu dinner.

Day 3: Riverside Camp to Nalan and Chalernsouk
Morning: Early wake-up to bird songs. After breakfast, cross the Nam Ha River to visit Ban Nalan, awarded the ASEAN Standard of Community Based Tourism. Learn about Khmu culture. Afternoon: Hike uphill through the forest, enjoy a traditional lunch, then trek down to Ban Chalernsouk. Return to Luang Namtha by Tuk Tuk.
