The Nam Ha River, renowned for its kayaking adventures in Northern Laos, offers thrilling rapids, stunning scenery, and a chance to explore the Nam Ha National Protected Area. Paddle through lush forests, spot wildlife, enjoy a riverside picnic, and experience the diverse cultures of minority villages, with an overnight stay in a Khmu family home.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Luang Namtha – Tasae – Nalan
9:00 AM: Meet at the office for introductions and a brief. Stop at the morning market for supplies, then head to the kayaking start point. Kayaking: Receive instructions on kayaking techniques and safety before paddling downriver through Khmu agricultural lands and lush tropical forests. Encounter rapids amidst stunning natural beauty. Lunch: Picnic lunch by the riverbank. 3:00 PM: Arrive at the village, explore, meet locals, swim, and enjoy a traditional dinner with a Khmu family.

Day 2: Nalan – Nam Khoy – Huaylued
Morning: Enjoy breakfast and freshly made coffee or tea. Learn about traditional Khmu hunting and rice grinding. Kayaking: Continue paddling downriver, navigating rapids and stopping at Nalan Tai village for a Lao picnic lunch. Afternoon: Visit Nam Koy village of the Lantan people, learning about natural dyeing and bamboo paper making. Continue kayaking through exciting rapids, ending at Houy Leuat village. Return: Tuk-tuk ride back to the office (1 hour). Note: Best kayaking season is from July to November. Low water levels from December to June may make kayaking challenging.
